Getting Started
First, you have to register on the forum in order to be able to participate in the RP. When you register, make sure that you use your character’s name upon registration. So instead of your usual username of wood_burn_98, you’d use the name Daniel Montgomery (this is just an example). Once you have done that and gotten your account activated, you can then move on to creating your character.
Be sure to read the notes in the character registration template so you know what to do. Once your character is created, staff will post on it, either telling you what more they want you to do, or giving approval. After you’ve been approved, you will then post in the Receiving Your Powers thread. The Nexus will then give you your power after reading your character’s information, determining your power on how you have created your character. Make sure that you incorporate something into your character that would reflect the type of power you’re hoping to receive. The Nexus will move your character to the “The Legacies” board, where you can edit and add to it as you so wish. You should edit/add to your character immediately, saying what power he/she has acquired, and how it is used. Don’t try cheating either, because there will be records of what your character has for powers!
Now that you’re done with all of that, you may begin Role Playing! Of course you can start Role Playing once your character is accepted and before they receive their power. You would just role play as them before they become a witch/warlock, or if they’re a demon, you just won’t post what kind of power(s) they have yet. Which could be tricky, but that’s why we try to make sure you’re given your power quickly! We also suggest that you start a thread or post in other peoples’ threads to get your character acquainted with others. After all, this isn’t just about finding something to fight. You’re trying to live a normal life too! Unless you’re a demon… but then you want to live a life as a demon with other demon friends and such too.
Role Playing
When you’re Role Playing, make sure that you don’t control other people’s characters or anything, unless you’ve talked about it with the player. Remember, this is about how your character acts and interacts based on what’s going on around them. Most of what you are doing should have another player in it, although every once in awhile you may find that you don’t want to play with another character. If this happens, then staff will present you with something from a Higher Being that you can role play through. Of course they will simply give you the situation. It’s up to you to decide what happens.
Should you come up against an enemy, make sure that you use dice rolls when needed. You can also end up creating great plots for your character with possibly enemies. Instead of always going for the kill, trying to simply escape could make things more interesting. The enemy could come after you later, and you could end up with a possible story arch. And then you could bring in other players and make things really interesting!
In short, what you do is pretty much up to you. Just don’t create enemies or powerplay. Your character isn’t all unbeatable. He/she can and will get hurt at times. They won’t always be successful in the things that they do. That’s where the dice rolling comes into play, to help decide when you are and are not successful. But there’s a whole thread on dice rolling and when you need it.
